Usually spouses live together for a while after filing. Suppose you see correspondence from your spouse's lawyer in the mail. Should you open it? Is it OK to hide it or throw it away?
This issue is addressed in Jeanne M. Hannah’s blog: Mail tampering | Opening or hiding the other spouse’s mail.

In my opinion, opening a spouse’s mail is not only ill-advised, it is arguably illegal. However, if you are going through or planning on filing for divorce, it may be good practice to either photograph envelopes addressed to your spouse showing the sender’s identity and address, or keeping a list including that information. It may be relevant to determining issues related to assets and debt during the divorce proceedings.
